Rochester's Path to Injustice

540WMain Communiversity presents:
Rochester's Path to Injustice

The City of Rochester has made repeated attempts for the last few decades to help its city revive but why do neighborhoods continue to lack in development, justice, and opportunity?

Join the ACLU of NY Genesee Valley Chapter Director, Iman Abid, as she reviews how the current justice system, educational system, and city development continue to impact the most marginalized communities, as well as how we can move forward successfully as a city to ensure equity, justice and due process for all.

About Instructor
Iman Abid is the Genesee Valley Chapter Director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. Before joining the NYCLU, Abid was working in the political field as a campaign manager for several upstate New York representatives. Her love for the public sector led her to serve as a deputy field director, organizing field work for senatorial and congressional campaigns. During that time she became a part of a field program that exceeded the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee standards.

In 2017, Abid was chosen as a City & State Rising Star Recipient and was a contributor and write to Muslim Girl.com. She has partnered with Twitter, Bustle.Com, and CBS News to help shape and center the narrative of Muslim women in the media and politics. Abid holds a B.S. in Political Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
